About:
I was born in Queens and live in Brooklyn.

Technique, Education and Influences:
I spent two years copying paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art , studying old master techniques and how they best apply to my own themes and peculiar aptitude. I use traditional, time tested materials, substituting modern materials when it is necessary or better (for example, the pigment ivory black is no longer made from burned ivory, and, perhaps more mercifully for both cow and artist, Indian yellow is no longer made from the urine of mango leaf fed cows. I won’t even go into the pigment ‘mummy’).

Teachers: Nelson Shanks, Costa Vavagiakis, Dan Thompson, Jon DeMartin, Steve Paulson

Education: University of Illinois, Art Students League, Grand Central Academy

Influences: Early Renaissance masters and techniques, particularly Grannacci, Francia, & Del Sarto. Rubens (in both his life and work) Sargent, Sorolla, Pre-Raphaelite painters Holman Hunt and Gabriel Rossetti, Norman Rockwell, Gothic and pre-Rennaissance art and architecture.
